How much lawn sand do I need?

The amount of sand needed depends on what the sand will be used for. We generally distinguish between two types of applications: topdressing and sanding after aeration.

Topdressing with lawn sand:

• For topdressing, you should apply about 1.7 kg of sand per square meter.

→ It is important that the blades of grass remain visible after sanding and that the lawn is not “buried.”

Lawn Sand After Aeration

• After aerating, you should apply about 7.5 kg of sand per square meter.

→ After aeration, the holes created are carefully filled with sand. This improves drainage, soil aeration, and root development. The amount of sand used here is significantly higher, since the aeration holes need to be completely filled.
