Product Guide: Dry Lawns
Steps for Planting a Dry Lawn (New Lawn Installation)
Dry grass is ideal for establishing a new lawn in sunny, dry locations. To ensure optimal results when sowing, please follow these steps:
1. Soil Preparation
Completely remove weeds, branches, stones, and other foreign objects
Loosen the soil
If necessary, mix the lawn soil with a little Turbogrün Organic Lawn Fertilizer and apply it
The floor should be level and sturdy underfoot
2. Sow grass seed
Spread the seeds evenly, either directly from the package or using a seed spreader
Make one pass down the length of the field and one across it to achieve an even spread
Recommended seeding rate: 30 g per m²
Then press the seeds down gently
Our tip: The turbo spreader set to level 5 is ideal for spreading.
3. Optional: Lay down lawn fabric
After sowing, you can cover the freshly seeded area with the Turbogrün lawn fabric.
Protects grass seeds from birds and other animals
Keeps moisture and heat in the soil longer
Prevents the seedbed from drying out too quickly
Important: Even when using a lawn fabric, the seeds must be kept constantly moist during the germination phase. The fabric reduces evaporation but does not replace watering.
4. Watering
Keep the area consistently moist for about 4 weeks
In dry weather, water briefly several times a day
When using the lawn fabric, check the soil moisture regularly and water as needed
Avoid waterlogging
5. First Cut
First mowing when the grass is 7–8 cm long
Trim to about 5–6 cm
Mow only with sharp blades
Then gradually reduce the cutting height further

Is your spreader not listed?
Here's how to find the right setting:
Mark off an area of 1 m² on a flat surface
Optionally, lay down a sheet of plastic
Spread the dry grass evenly
Rake up the grit and weigh it
If the amount is about 30 g, the setting is correct
If there are any discrepancies, adjust the level accordingly
