When will I see the first results of reseeding or new seeding?
Why high-quality grass seeds take longer to germinate
Unlike inexpensive lawn seed mixes from home improvement stores or discount retailers, high-quality lawn seeds take a little longer to germinate. This is not a drawback, but rather a sign of quality.
Our grass seeds consist of high-performance grass varieties that grow to be more durable, hardier, and denser. To achieve this, they invest more energy in root development during the initial phase rather than in rapid above-ground growth.
Important requirement: consistent moisture levels
During the first 14–20 days, the seedbed must be kept consistently moist
The soil must never dry out
Water briefly several times a day, depending on the weather
This is the only way to ensure that the seeds germinate reliably and develop strong roots.
When will the first results be visible?
The germination time varies depending on the type of grass:
Turbogrün Dry Lawn: approx. 14–22 days
grows particularly deep roots
but it takes a little longer to sprout
Turbogrün Shade Turf: approx. 14–20 days
High-quality, premium blend
Ideal for shady locations
So the first visible shoots may not appear for up to three weeks.
Fast-germinating seeds: Mixtures with a high proportion of Lolium
Lawn seeds with a high percentage of Lolium perenne germinate much faster:
Germination under ideal conditions occurs after about 3 days
Stalks become visible after about 3–4 more days
These grasses ensure quick initial results, but on their own they are not as long-lasting as high-quality mixtures containing several types of grass.
