When is the best time to collect a soil sample?

In our opinion, the best time to take a soil sample is between January and February. During the winter months, rain and snow wash many nutrients out of the soil. As a result, the soil is in a largely “neutral” state, which yields particularly meaningful results. It is important to ensure that the soil is not frozen at the time of sampling.

Soil sampling is possible year-round:

In general, a soil test can be performed at any time of year. However, it’s essential to make sure that at least 6–8 weeks have passed since the last time you applied fertilizer. This is the only way to get an accurate picture of the actual nutrient content in the soil.

Recommended frequency of soil testing:

We recommend having a soil test done at least once every two years. This will allow you to track changes in soil nutrients and adjust your fertilization plan accordingly. In the long run, this ensures healthy soil and a well-nourished lawn.
