How to Use Lawn Lime Properly: Effects, Duration, and Tips

How long does it take for lawn lime to work?
Lawn lime doesn't work straight away. How quickly your soil's pH changes depends on the current pH, the soil type and how regularly you apply it. Lime works gradually and should therefore be used over the long term.

Regular application for a lasting effect
To stabilise and raise the pH over the long term, we recommend:

• regular application of approx. 100 g/m²

• around three applications per year

• even distribution across the lawn

This gives the microorganisms in the soil enough time to adapt to the changed soil conditions. A healthy pH improves nutrient availability and promotes strong lawn growth.

When is lime actually needed?
Not every lawn needs liming. If the pH is already in the optimal range, no lime is needed.
Optimal pH for lawns:

• approx. 6.5 to 7.0

If the pH is within this range, you can skip liming.
