Product Instructions: Soil Sample

Here's what you'll need

our soil sampler or a clean spade
a clean bucket
a clean spoon (only when working with a shovel)
Water (only when working with a spade)
Gloves

Preparation

First, decide, I don't know where the soil sample is to be taken.
The lawn should be prepared for harvesting thoroughly dried be.

What kind of soil sample is appropriate?

There are two common approaches:

Procedure 1 – Composite Sample
To do this, soil samples are taken from several spots on the lawn and then mixed together.
This method provides a reliable result for the entire lawn area and is recommended in most cases.

Procedure 2 – Single Sample
In a single-sample test, soil is collected from only one specific location.
This method is particularly suitable for problem areas where the lawn doesn't grow well.

The procedure is explained below using a composite sample as an example.

Take a soil sample using a soil corer

Put on gloves, as skin contact can affect the sample's pH.
Take at least 10 different locations from the lawn using a soil sampler.
Collect all the samples in a clean bucket.
Next, remove stones, grass, roots, and other foreign matter.
Mix the soil in the bucket thoroughly.
cradle 500 g from the well-mixed soil. The soil should be slightly moist, but not wet.
Fill the soil into the included bag.
Stand the already labeled box upright, place the bag inside, and seal it with tape.
The package can simply be dropped off at a Deutsche Post mailbox.

Take a soil sample with a shovel

Put on gloves so as not to alter the pH of the sample.
Stab at least 10 different locations about 10 cm deep, pieces the width of a spade from the ground.
Carefully lift the clumps of soil and turn them over.
Use a clean spoon to scrape off the soil in strips from the underside and put it in a bucket.
Make sure that, as much as possible, there are no blades of grass, stones, twigs, thatch, or plant debris in it.
Repeat this process at all sampling points.
Place the cut-out patches of turf back into the holes and gently press them down.
Depending on the weather, the areas should then be thoroughly watered.
Mix the soil you've collected in the bucket thoroughly (be sure to wear gloves if you're handling it with your hands).
Remove 500 g the mixture and pour it into the bag you've set out.
Put the bag in the labeled box, seal it, and drop it in a Deutsche Post mailbox.

Soil Analysis Results

You'll usually receive the results via email as a PDF after about four weeks.
In addition, you'll receive a personalized fertilization recommendation tailored specifically to your soil and lawn.
