Does the Turbogrün Long-Lasting Lawn Fertilizer / Spring Lawn Fertilizer also control weeds?
This question can be answered with "And" and with "No" Answer.
The Turbogrün Long-Term Lawn Fertilizer / Spring Lawn Fertilizer does not contain any weed killer. Therefore, it does not directly control weeds. Nevertheless, it is very effective at indirectly suppressing weeds.
Regular fertilization strengthens the grass. The lawn becomes denser, fills in gaps more quickly, and deprives weeds of light, space, and nutrients. As a result, weeds have a much harder time establishing themselves permanently in the lawn.
In addition, fertilization causes existing weeds to grow more vigorously. This is not a disadvantage, but rather an advantage: Regular mowing every 3 to 7 days keeps the weeds cut back time and again. Many types of weeds cannot tolerate this frequent cutting and eventually disappear on their own.
We have deliberately chosen not to incorporate weed killers directly into our fertilizer products. In our view, it doesn’t make sense to apply a weed killer over a large area when weeds usually appear only in specific spots. That would place an unnecessary burden on the environment.
Instead, we recommend treating weeds selectively with a weed killer, making sure to apply it only to the affected leaves.
