Application steps for turbogrün Autumn Lawn Fertiliser

To prepare your lawn for winter as well as possible, apply turbogrün Autumn Lawn Fertiliser correctly and at the right time.

Preparation before fertilising

  • The grass should be dry

  • Mow the lawn beforehand

Our tip: Aerate the lawn before fertilising so the nutrients can reach the soil more easily.

Applying the fertiliser

  • Ideally, apply the fertiliser with a broadcast spreader (e.g. Turbostreuer, setting 5) or a drop spreader

  • Fill the spreader away from the lawn

  • Weigh out the required amount in advance

Dosage: 20 g/m²

Watering after fertilising

  • Ideally, fertilise just before a rain shower

  • Alternatively, water the lawn with 10–15 l/m²

Best time for autumn fertilising

We recommend two applications:

  • 1st application: mid-September

  • 2nd application: late October to early November, depending on the weather

As an alternative to the second autumn application, you can also use turbogrün Stressmanager.

Why autumn fertilising matters

turbogrün Autumn Lawn Fertiliser contains a high proportion of potassium, which:

  • strengthens the cell walls

  • helps the lawn become robust and winter-hardy

  • supports the lawn's resilience, especially against cold

Without autumn fertilising, the lawn gets through the winter less well and starts the spring weaker.

Check the soil temperature

  • The soil temperature should be consistently at least 8 °C

  • A meat thermometer, for example, works well for measuring it

  • Occasional cool autumn days are not a problem, because the soil retains heat for several days

Spreading by hand (for experienced users)

  • Wear gloves to avoid skin contact

  • Spread the fertiliser evenly

  • Spread once lengthwise and once crosswise, each time with half the dosage

  • Do not overlap the spreading lanes, to avoid over-fertilising

Spreader settings for the autumn fertiliser

The following spreader settings are based on feedback from our customers. They have not been officially tested, so we recommend checking the setting yourself before use and adjusting it if necessary. Use at your own risk.
