Important preliminary information:Killing moles is not permitted in Germany. The mole is a protected species. It is considered a specially protected species and Section 44 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act prohibits the killing of these animals.

Ways to get rid of moles:

1. eliminate food sources for the mole.
Moles love grubs. Once you have eliminated the grubs and other insects in your garden, the moles will move in search of better food sources. We recommend controlling larval populations by using beneficial nematodes or milky spores to kill larvae. If you want faster results, use an insecticide instead.

2. moles do not like smelly plants
Daffodils, marigolds and the like are flowers that moles don't like at all. It is best to use plants from the allium family to form a natural barrier. Alternatively, you can also plant these flowers in the raised bed to protect the roots.

3. moles don't like noise
Frequent machine noise, e.g. from mowing, aerating, scarifying, etc., disturbs moles and they move away.

Reasons what attracts moles:

1. many insects
Moles eat a lot of beetles. In fact, the NWF reports that many species eat up to 100 % of the beetles every day.
of their body weight on insects.
Their diet consists of earthworms, grubs, beetles and larvae. Moles build elaborate burrows in areas where these insects are abundant.

2. cool temperatures
Contrary to popular belief, moles are neither blind nor nocturnal. They are active throughout the day and prefer moist, cool soil, which helps them to regulate their temperature.

3. landscaping elements
The main runways that moles build tend to follow certain landscape features, such as fence rows, paths or other man-made boundaries.
They may also emerge along a hedge line or other sheltered area. Moles also burrow under shrubs and trees to locate the insects that live in their root systems.
Wherever moles settle, food is the main motivator - for this reason, controlling their food sources is one of the most effective ways to control mole populations.
