How can common couch grass Elymus repens be effectively controlled in lawns?

Common couch grass is a major problem. It spreads underground via roots. Pulling out the plant is therefore only effective in the short term, as the roots remain in the soil and continue to grow.

What the couch grass does not like at all is low mowing at short intervals. If the areas in question are small, they can also be cut out with a spade.

Unfortunately there is no Weed killer especially against couch grass. Only a total herbicide will help here. However, this also kills the "good" lawn grasses.
