The common bindweed dries up in the hot season, but if it is not controlled early, it will lead to bare patches in the lawn in summer.
To reduce the infestation, heavy scarifying is recommended, followed by direct reseeding. If the infestation is severe, a total herbicide can be used, but this will also remove the "good" lawn grasses. If the infested area is not so large, the section can be cut out. Then fill the holes with soil and reseed.
