How do I remove dew from the lawn?

Removing dew from the lawn is also called dew waving or dew removal.

This can be done with a soft broom, lawn rake, garden hose, upturned lawn rake, beams, ladders or other objects with which you do not damage the lawn. Run one of these tools over the lawn in the morning to remove the dew from the leaves.

You can also mow the lawn with a cylinder mower in the early hours of the morning without any problems.

Advantage: The dew is removed at the same time.

If you have a sprinkler system, you can achieve the same effect by switching it on briefly in the morning. Only the mushroom mycelia remain unimpressed by this.

The advantage of removing the dew:

  • The lawn has less disease pressure because wet leaves are ideal for fungal diseases.

  • The dew water would also evaporate almost completely. If, on the other hand, the dew is removed, the water falls to the ground and is available to supply the grasses with water. (up to 1 l/m²)

  • Dry grasses are more photosynthetically active

  • Dry grasses are easier to mow
