Blackleg

There are various names for the fungal disease blackleg, such as Gaeumannomyces, Ophiobulus, take-all patch.

Blackleg initially manifests itself as yellowish to bronze-colored patches in the lawn. Later, the typical ring symptom develops, which grows in the same place every year. Brown stem base and brown roots, the plant is easy to pull out of the ground.

Infestation-promoting factors:

• pH value above 7

• Drought stress

• Too much moisture

• High humidity (in warm weather)

• Nutrient deficiency

• Frequent sanding (this leads to a lack of antagonists due to the lack of other soil fungi and a lack of nutrients)

Preventive measures:

• Balanced and even nutrient supply

• Optimize air supply

• Optimize the irrigation technique, irrigate in the early morning hours to allow the crop to dry quickly

• Optimize pH value
