Irregular, light green patches appear on the lawn at first. Later these become straw-colored (reddish brown). As the turf renews itself from the center, it can look like a ring or an eye. Fusarium occurs in summer when temperatures are high and humidity is high. Poa pratensis, Festuca spp. and Agrostis speciesare frequently affected.
For the development of Fusarium There are various causes, the most common being:
one-sided fertilization
too much nitrogen
Potassium deficiency
extreme pH values, either above pH 7 or below pH 5
Lawn felt
Drought
Compacted soil
To prevent patches, the usual measures for a healthy lawn should be observed:
Minimization of lawn thatch with the help of Turbogreen lawn aerator
Regular mowing
Balanced irrigation in summer
regular fertilizing; in the autumn a Potassium-rich fertilizer be used
Scarifying, aerating and preferably also sanding
Aim for the optimum pH value, which should be between 5.5 and 6.5.
