Anthracnose is a typical weakness parasite. The disease occurs more frequently between spring and fall. It manifests itself as irregular, sometimes band-like yellowish to reddish-brown patches. The lawn disease anthracnose thus looks very similar to dry damage and is therefore often not recognized as a fungal disease. The lawn becomes patchier. A special feature of the disease is thorn-like black growths on affected blades.
Infestation-promoting factors
Nutrient deficiency
Long-lasting moisture
Too frequent watering
Stress (e.g. due to deep cutting, climatic stress, heat, cold, etc.)
Soil compaction (waterlogging)
High humidity
Lawn felt
Preventive measures:
Balanced and even nutrient supply
Optimize air supply
Optimize the irrigation technique, irrigate in the early morning hours to allow the crop to dry quickly
Remove dew
Reduce thatch
Eliminate compaction
At very high temperatures above 27°, cool the turf with targeted watering
Raise cutting height
